Where we are is a one story. Where we are going to is another.
We can only go where we want from, where we are now. We have to accept our lot.
The our inner voice and story can prevent us doing what we could do though. That story can be either a curse or a blessing.
Either way it is, we have access to a powerful magic that can transform that inner story into a blessing if we so wish.
“Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic. Capable of both inflicting injury, and remedying it.” ― J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Words are magic. When words are connected to form sentences they become powerful spells, which then if they are repeated over time become part of us and start to work even unconsciously.
Mantras work this way as well. However, I cannot advise learning some meaningless mumbo jumbo but rather lines of wisdom that are more true than false.
I.e. I’ve been drilling the wise phrase by Theodore Roosevelt to myself over and over again: “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” This thought connects with many others, however it reminds me on how to communicate with others (ethos, pathos, logos).
Meaningful phrases like these can counteract the usually cluttered thoughts with focus and clarity.
What we think where we can go, is that is constructed upon past. However, just like past has been constructed so can the future too with the truthful words. We can rewrite our destinies.
